Docks Heritage Weekend
September 30 2023
Docks Heritage Weekend 2023 is set to take place on Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October.
The annual event is a celebration of Bristol’s maritime past with activities for all ages at M Shed, Underfall Yard and Brunel’s Great Britain.
On Saturday 30 September from 11am to 4pm, visit the Albion Dockyard for free tours.
Bristolians will be able to explore the city’s largest dry dock and hear about its incredible history. They will hear about plans to conserve the dock, continued ship repair and develop a STEM learning heritage attraction alongside Brunel’s SS Great Britain.
There will be free tours of the Albion Dockyard at Hanover Place from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 30 September only. Staff and volunteers from the SS Great Britain Trust and Albion Dock Company will welcome people in and direct them along the 540ft-long Grade-II listed dock for unique views of the working shipyard and harbour. The free tour takes in the Albion Dock and does not include a visit to Brunel’s SS Great Britain.
Close to the Albion Dockyard, Brunel Square offers a free outdoor photography exhibition, showcasing the theme of discovery and Bristol’s global connections through the SS Great Britain – the world’s first great ocean liner – and the Albion Dockyard, where thousands of ships were built.
Harbourside Kitchen on Brunel Square offers a range of food and drink options with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the harbourside.
