Terms and Conditions
Admission Tickets
The supply of products, tickets, annual memberships and other goods and services made through our website or as a result of visits made by you are governed by the following terms and conditions:
- All tickets are non-refundable.
- Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
- Full price general admission tickets purchased online are valid for 12 months from the chosen date of first visit. If you are unable to attend your chosen date, our team is happy to transfer your booking to another date. Once a purchase has been completed you will receive your ticket via email.
- Full price general admission tickets purchased on arrival are valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
- Admission tickets are non-transferable. A name must be given at the point of purchase for general admission tickets to be valid for 12 months. After your first visit, please bring ID with you for all future visits to verify ticket ownership.
- Tickets may not be resold and can only be used by the original ticket holder.
- Tickets for experiences with multiple dates available can be transferred to a new date, subject to availability. Experience tickets for tours can be transferred up to 48 hours in advance and Sunday Roasts can be transferred up to 7 days in advance of your booking. To transfer your experience booking please contact our crew on admin@ssgreatbritain.org or call us on 0117 926 0680. If the experience is only available for one date or if all other dates are sold out, transfers will not be possible.
- Some of our discounted, complimentary and experience tickets are valid for one day only, this will be stated clearly during the booking process and on your ticket. Once scanned, you will be able to exit and re-enter site on that same day during our opening hours; the ticket will not be valid for re-admission on any other day after this.
- Tickets for ticketed events include entrance to that event only and may not include access to the whole site. Upgrades to annual passes may be available, please check with our crew on the day.
- If a ticketed event is cancelled by Brunel’s SS Great Britain for any reason then a full refund will be issued to all ticket holders.
- If a ticketed event is postponed by Brunel’s SS Great Britain for any reason then refunds or exchanges will be available within 7 days of the notification of the new event date.
- Whilst we endeavour to ensure that as much of our site as possible is available to our visitors we may, at our discretion and without prior notice, close part or all of the site and/or suspend or cancel any event or activity due to health and safety concerns, staffing capacity, adverse weather conditions or any other situation deemed necessary.
- The SS Great Britain Trust reserves the right to refuse entry, prohibit future entry or eject any visitor from the site for reasons including, but not limited to, if the visitor: is being physically or verbally abusive; is behaving in a threatening manner; appears to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs; may be a risk to the safety of our staff, volunteers or other visitors; is disrupting or detracting from the enjoyment of other visitors; fails to comply with the requests of SS Great Britain Trust staff.
- Please be advised that you enter the dockyard at your own risk. SS Great Britain Trust shall not be responsible for any accident or injury to, or for damage or loss of, any persons or personal possessions.
- Smoking and vaping are prohibited anywhere in the dockyard, ship and museums. If you wish to smoke or vape you must leave the premises through the gift shop. You will be granted re-entry with your ticket.
Group Bookings
Booking Process

- Group discount tickets are valid for 1 day only.
- All bookings must be made in advance and booked through the Groups team at groups@ssgreatbritain.org or through our online enquiry form. https://www.ssgreatbritain.org/groups/
- For UK Schools: https://www.ssgreatbritain.org/learning-and-education/for-schools/ Please select Key Stage.
- In order to process a group booking, the following information is needed:
- Group name and postal address
- School, Trust or Academy name (for school groups) and postal address
- Invoice name, postal address and email address
- Preferred date and time of visit
- Number of people
- Ages or year group of any children
- Any desired activities
- To ensure we are able to offer the best possible experience please let us know of any special or additional requirements in your group.
- We cannot process any bookings until we have received all of the above information.
- Once your group has been booked onto our system you will receive a confirmation letter with your order number. Please quote this order number in all further correspondence.
- For all groups (with the exception of UK school groups) a minimum of 15 paying passengers is required to obtain the group rates.
- For school and youth groups we offer 1 free adult for every 6 children
- We require at least 1 adult/leader for every 10 children/students.
- We can offer 1 free group organiser for every adult group.
- Hired Coach drivers are free with every booked group.
- Adult group tickets are upgradable to full annual passenger tickets on the day of the group visit.
Payment
- Payment is made by invoice following the visit, or on the day by cash or bank card. Any payments made before the visit will be non-refundable.
- Please note that payment needs to be taken in one transaction.
- Please stipulate at the time of booking your preferred method of payment.
- For payments by invoice we require an additional invoicing email at the time of booking and information on how to address the invoice to a Trust or a specific department.
- Group name and invoice number must be quoted on invoice payments
- Any incurred bank charges must be covered by the payer so that we receive the invoice total in full.
- Payment must be made within the given time frame of 14 days (this is extended for UK educational groups).
- Private group dining must be paid 14 days prior to the visit, our catering partner Elior will arrange payment separately.
Cancelations
- Group visits can be cancelled for free up to 14 days prior to the visit.
- Within 14 days of the visit groups comprising 100 or more people and cancelled will be charged 25% of the booking costs.
- Within 14 days of the visit any guided tours, Brunel Institute talks and school workshops cancelled will be charged at full price.
- Within 14 days of the visit any private group dining cancelled will be charged at full price.
- We reserve the right to cancel or amend your booking due to unforeseen events such as unexpected site closure or staff shortages. You will not be charged for anything we are unable to offer.
- In the event of a cancellation or postponement, whatever the cause, Brunel’s SS Great Britain will not be liable for any other costs incurred by the group in connection with the booking or the visit.
Amendments
- Please make us aware of any significant changes to numbers as soon as possible
- While we will try to accommodate any additional activities requested resulting from an increase in numbers visiting these are not guaranteed.
- Within 14 days of the visit, groups comprising 100 or more people and amended with a reduction in numbers of 50 people or more will be charged 25% of the cancelled tickets.
- Within 14 days of the visit if numbers are updated with a significant fall affecting activities any activities no longer required will be charged at full price.
On the day
- Please let us know as soon as possible if you are likely to be late arriving.
- In the case of late arrivals while we will try to accommodate any booked activities, this may not always be possible and will be chargeable at full price if we are no longer able to offer the activity due to lateness.
- It is the responsibility of the group leader to check in the group and provide accurate numbers. We will charge for numbers given at the point of check-in.
On Site Expectations
- All children/students must always be supervised by a group leader/adult.
- Lead adults/teachers must wear Hi-vis jackets provided to be visible to staff.
- Unsupervised groups of children/students may be asked to leave the ship, Dry Dock, or museums to wait for their group leader or teacher.
- When not on a guided tour of the ship, please split your group into smaller groups. For all child/student groups please ensure these are adult-led.
- Please ask your group to be considerate to other visitors, particularly around narrow corridors. Groups are expected to abide by the Captain’s Code.
- Disruptive behaviour may lead to your group being asked to leave the site.
- If your group is seen causing damage, they will be asked to leave the site and you may be charged for any damage caused.
Gift Vouchers
- Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. The expiry date will be clearly displayed on the front of the gift voucher.
- Gift vouchers for admission tickets must be redeemed within 12 months of date of purchase. Once redeemed by the recipient, your annual tickets will be valid for 12 months and provides unlimited free return visits throughout the year including exciting family programming at October half term, May half term’s Passenger Takeover and much more. It excludes entry to the Victorian Christmas Weekend(s) in 2025 (dates to be determined) and any other ticketed events. Gift vouchers for admission tickets can be used for the Victorian Christmas Weekend on 7th and 8th December 2024, to use your tickets you will need to book a timeslot here
- When redeeming a gift voucher for admission tickets, a name must be given for the ticket at point of redemption to make it valid for 12 months of unlimited revisits. Once this named annual ticket has been created, it is non-transferable. After your first visit, please bring ID with you for all future visits to verify ticket ownership.
- Gift vouchers cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash. Expired vouchers cannot be refunded or redeemed.
- Gift vouchers cannot be transferred between product/service types, they are valid for the product/service displayed on the front of the voucher only. As gift vouchers are purchased for a specific product or service, use of a gift voucher as part payment is not possible.
- Each gift voucher is for one use only.
- Replacements or refunds will not be offered for lost or damaged vouchers. Incomplete or amended vouchers are invalid and cannot be redeemed.
- Gift vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any special promotions or discounts.
- Please refer to the separate Terms and Conditions relating to the intended purpose of the voucher.
VIP Experience
- VIP Experiences are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Your VIP Experience booking includes an annual admission ticket for SS Great Britain, this will be valid for 12 months of free, unlimited return visits from the date of your VIP tour. All admission tickets are subject to our Admission Ticket Terms and Conditions.
- VIP Experiences will go ahead in most weather conditions, please ensure you wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions as part of the experience takes place outside.
- VIP Experience ticket holders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the experience start time. If you fail to arrive in time for your experience, we cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate your party. If you fail to attend, refunds and transfers will not be permitted.
- It is your responsibility to check the details of your booking as if you have made a mistake, it cannot always be rectified after purchase. Please email admin@ssgreatbritain.org as soon as possible if there is a mistake on your booking.
- If a VIP Tour is cancelled or postponed by SS Great Britain Trust for any reason, then refunds and/or alternative dates will be made available within 7 days of the notification of the cancellation or postponement. Reasons for cancellation or postponement can include, but are not limited to, the participant numbers making it unviable to run and site closure due to extreme weather conditions or health and safety issues.
- Brunel’s SS Great Britain will take all reasonable measures to contact you when cancellation or postponement has occurred. Any contact will be made via email so you are advised to check your email before making the journey to us.
Festive Lunches
- Festive Lunches are non-refundable.
- Festive Lunches can be transferred to a new date up to 7 days before your booking, subject to availability. If all other dates are sold out, transfers will not be possible. Please contact our crew on admin@ssgreatbritain.org or call us on 0117 926 0680 to transfer the date of your lunch.
- An admission ticket is mandatory for access to site. If you do not already have a valid annual ticket or membership, you must purchase a day ticket at the discounted price of £10.00 per person, this is offered at the optional extras stage of the online purchasing process. All admission tickets are subject to our Admission Ticket Terms and Conditions.
- Festive Lunch ticket holders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the time stated on their booking. If you fail to arrive in time for your lunch, we cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate your party. If you fail to attend, refunds and transfers will not be permitted.
- It is your responsibility to check the details of your booking as if you have made a mistake, it cannot always be rectified after purchase. Please email admin@ssgreatbritain.org as soon as possible if there is a mistake on your booking.
- If a Festive Lunch is cancelled or postponed by SS Great Britain Trust for any reason then refunds and/or alternative dates will be made available within 7 days of the notification of the cancellation or postponement. Reasons for cancellation or postponement can include, but are not limited to, the participant numbers making it unviable to run and site closure due to extreme weather conditions or health and safety issues.
- Brunel’s SS Great Britain will take all reasonable measures to contact you when cancellation or postponement has occurred. Any contact will be made via email so you are advised to check your email before making the journey to us.
Sunday Roasts
- Sunday Roasts are non-refundable.
- Sunday Roasts can be transferred to a new date up to 7 days before your booking, subject to availability. If all other dates are sold out, transfers will not be possible. Please contact our crew on admin@ssgreatbritain.org or call us on 0117 926 0680 to transfer the date of your roast.
- An admission ticket is mandatory for access to site. If you do not already have a valid annual ticket or membership, you must purchase a day ticket at the discounted price of £7.50 per person, this is offered at the optional extras stage of the online purchasing process. All admission tickets are subject to our Admission Ticket Terms and Conditions.
- Sunday Roast ticket holders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the time stated on their booking. If you fail to arrive in time for your roast, we cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate your party. If you fail to attend, refunds and transfers will not be permitted.

Reasons for cancellation or postponement can include, but are not limited to, the participant numbers making it unviable to run and site closure due to extreme weather conditions or health and safety issues.

Christmas Wreath Workshop (1 December)
- Our Christmas Wreath Workshops are non-refundable.
- Your Christmas Wreath Workshop booking includes entry to Brunel’s SS Great Britain for 1 December only.
- Christmas Wreath Workshop ticket holders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the experience start time. If you fail to arrive in time for your experience, we cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate your party. If you fail to attend, refunds and transfers will not be permitted.
- It is your responsibility to check the details of your booking as if you have made a mistake, it cannot always be rectified after purchase.
- If the Christmas Wreath Workshop is cancelled or postponed by SS Great Britain Trust for any reason then refunds and/or alternative dates will be made available within 7 days of the notification of the cancellation or postponement. We will be unable to reimburse any travel expenses incurred.
- Reasons for cancellation or postponement can include, but are not limited to, the participant numbers making it unviable to run and site closure due to extreme weather conditions or health and safety issues.
- Brunel’s SS Great Britain will take all reasonable measures to contact you when cancellation or postponement has occurred. Any contact will be made via email so you are advised to check your email before making the journey to us.
Walking Brunel’s Bristol
- Walking Brunel’s Bristol tickets are non-refundable.
- Walking Brunel’s Bristol tickets can be transferred to a new date up to 24 hours before your booking, subject to availability. If all other dates are sold out, transfers will not be possible. Please contact our crew on admin@ssgreatbritain.org or call us on 0117 926 0680 to transfer the date of your booking.
- Your Walking Brunel’s Bristol booking does not include admission to SS Great Britain. A discounted afternoon admission ticket will be offered during the online purchasing process. This afternoon admission ticket can be upgraded to an annual ticket, the upgrade must be made on the day of your visit. All admission tickets are subject to our Admission Ticket Terms and Conditions.
- Walking Brunel’s Bristol will go ahead in most weather conditions, please ensure you wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions as the experience takes place outside.
- Walking Brunel’s Bristol ticket holders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the experience start time. If you fail to arrive in time for your experience, we cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate your party. If you fail to attend, refunds and transfers will not be permitted.
- It is your responsibility to check the details of your booking as if you have made a mistake, it cannot always be rectified after purchase. Please email admin@ssgreatbritain.org as soon as possible if there is a mistake on your booking.
- We may cancel the tour if:
- Tour numbers make the tour unviable to run.
- The weather is unsuitable (heavy and prolonged rain, gale force winds, heavy snow, extreme heat)
- Brunel is unwell
In these instances, we will offer the choice of rebooking onto a different tour, donating tour money to the SS Great Britain Trust or a refund. We endeavour to give participants 24 hours’ notice but this may not always be possible.
- Brunel’s SS Great Britain will take all reasonable measures to contact you when cancellation or postponement has occurred. Any contact will be made via email so you are advised to check your email before making the journey to us.
