The Albion Dock
The Albion Dockyard is located on Bristol’s Floating Harbour beside Brunel’s SS Great Britain.
The dry dock dates back to 1820 and was saved by the SS Great Britain Trust in 2018 when the dockyard laid derelict.
The Trust’s ambitious plans are for a conservation, maritime education and heritage tourism project that also maintains the thriving working shipyard that the charity has been instrumental in restarting.
Find out more about the historic dockyard and project plans.
Discover the SS Great Britain Trust’s overall plans for the future of the dockyard; the Albion Dockyard’s history and global connections; and how Bristol’s maritime industry is being kept alive by the ship builders working there now. You can also find a creative response to the dock’s fascinating history from our poet in residence.
You can also download the Bloomberg Connects app – our new digital guide and audio tour – to explore the Albion Dockyard and to hear from dockworkers past and present.
