Brunel's ss Great Britain
Saturday 11 February - Sunday 19 February 2017
Included in the price of admission
Taste a slice of history on board this February half term. New for 2017, families can celebrate Victorian baking with an experience for all the senses.
Every day in the First Class Dining Saloon, 1pm-3pm
All passengers had to eat, but the menus were very different for first class and steerage.
Kids and big kids alike can enjoy authentic, Victorian pudding tasting every day in the ship’s First Class Dining Saloon. Tuck into history with some unusual, bitesize, baked-on-board Victorian flavours which will be sure to get the taste buds tingling.
Every day in the Medlock Craft Centre, 11am-4pm
Hard and dry ship’s biscuits were served with almost every meal on the SS Great Britain. Rather than eat them, passengers would sometimes decorate them for keepsakes.
Little bakers can get crafty and decorate their own ship’s biscuits in daily workshops.
Saturday 11 – Sat 18 February (exc. Sunday and Monday), 12.30pm – 2.30pm
Join the curators and explore rare and original foodie artefacts and diaries, including a 143-year-old ship’s biscuit that was kept by a passenger who travelled on the SS Great Britain.
