Iron Island

August 23 2021 - 3 October 2021

Free with admission

For the first time in 50 years the sights, sounds and movement of a living sea will surround the ship’s hull.

Working with poet Saili Katebe and composer Joe Acheson, Limbic Cinema will transform the dry dock into a huge digital projection theatre, filled with the energy of the world’s underwater oceans.

Find out more about Iron Island in our news blog. Read the Iron Island narrative written by Saili Katebe.

Entry is included in your admission to Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Time slots are available to book now up until 3 October. If you’re a student, you can get your ticket for just £8! Find out more about this offer here.

Accessible showings are available at 11am and 3pm each day for the benefit of visitors with a hearing impairment.

We are grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Lottery Players for supporting this programme.

Iron Island is an immersive theatre experience that includes underwater scenes, flashing lights, loud sounds and a darkened environment. It is designed to be suitable for all audiences however parent/guardian guidance is recommended. There is lift access to the dry dock. Access for wheelchair users is step free however part of the surface is cobbled.
