Mr Brunel Wooden Character, £3.50
Complete with a stovepipe hat, sideburns and plans for the SS Great Britain, this wooden Mr Brunel is a part of a collection which has been designed exclusively for us in collaboration with Lanka Kade. They’ve been producing fair trade wooden toys like these since 1994, and regularly visit their suppliers in Sri Lanka to ensure standards of working conditions are being met.
Coral Lobster Socks, £10
Socks are a classic Christmas present, but they don’t need to be boring! Made with bamboo for extra comfort, these colourful socks are packaged in a beautifully crafted pull-out patterned drawer box.
Mr Brunel Coaster, £4
Inspired by the colourful designs of Victorian advertising banners and posters, these coasters make a wonderful souvenir of a visit to Bristol. They’re part of our new Mr Brunel collection, which also includes mugs, magnets, notebooks and prints to celebrate the famous engineer. The decorative patterns Brunel incorporated into many of his projects add a nostalgic feel to the designs, reminiscent of vintage stamps.
Treasury of Folklore: Seas and Rivers, £14.99
Folklore of the seas and rivers has a resonance in cultures all over the world. Watery hopes, fears and dreams are shared by all peoples where rivers flow and waves crash. Accompanied by stunning woodcut illustrations, popular authors Dee Dee Chainey and Willow Winsham explore the deep history and enduring significance of water folklore the world over, from mermaids, selkies and sirens to ghostly ships and the fountains of youth.
Sarah Carpenter Botany Make Up Bag, £20
Recreated in watercolour by artist Sarah Carpenter, the orchid species on this fabric were originally brought to the UK on board the SS Great Britain in Wardian cases. Each bag is cut from a larger piece of fabric, meaning each one shows a different portion of the design.
Celestial One Line a Day Journal, £14.99
Featuring dreamy watercolour artwork from artist and designer Yao Cheng, this stunning 365 day journal will inspire thoughtful reflections and be treasured long after its pages are filled. A great gift for friends, family or perhaps new parents.
Legacy Cutler’s Stool, £96
Hand-crafted by artisans Ginger & Tweed, this stool is made of Jarrah wood, removed from the ship’s Weather Deck in 2024. The design is inspired by the traditional, simple furniture used on board ship in the Victorian era. A special gift for a loved one, it can be used as a side table, for displaying ornaments, or for sitting on.
Botanist’s Gin – 6 O’Clock Gin x SSGB, £35
We’ve collaborated with 6 O’Clock Gin to produce this exclusive gin, inspired by the explosion of botanists and their trade in the 19th century. It’s infused with botanicals and fruit including coriander seed, cardamom, orris root, orange and lemon peel. Perfect for the G&T lover in your life.
Starburst Hoop Earrings, £34
Subtly festive without being too blingy, these earrings are perfect for both Christmas and all year round! They’re handmade by the Hope Jewellery Project, which provides training and fairly paid work for women living in the Shanty Towns of Lima, Peru. We stock a range of fair trade jewellery and decorations that have been created by skilled craftspeople from around the world.
