School Visit

The SS Great Britain is an ideal location for a day out of the classroom. The historic ship, Being Brunel, Dockyard Museum and beneath the “sea” in the Dry Dock capture the imagination with lots to see, hear, touch and even smell!

As part of your school visit, you can book interactive workshops and guided tours; a wide range of free resources are available to support pre- and post-visit learning.

“The best trip we’ve ever been on! Absolutely fantastic.” – KS1 class teacher

We are delighted to share that Brunel’s SS Great Britain has been award a Sandford Award for heritage learning.

The external assessors praised the “excellent education service which makes use of the spirit of innovation and experiment of the ship’s original designer. Experiential learning opportunities are offered to schools including designing and planning, building, problem solving, re-enacting and discussing. Pupils will leave refreshed, inspired and astonished”.

Please be aware, we have no workshop availability in March or May and very limited availability in April. There is also very limited availability for two or more workshops on the same day in June, but there is still good workshop availability in July.
