Step aboard the SS Great Brittany

For the first time in 140 years, the SS Great Britain will be setting sail again from June 2026, joining the ranks of Brittany Ferries fleet on a new route connecting Bristol to Bordeaux. This unique partnership with Brittany Ferries will truly be a world-class historic experience and an opportunity to cross the channel in style.

Manned by an all-French crew, Brunel’s beloved ship has officially been renamed as the ‘SS Great Brittany’, to celebrate the incredible sailing experience that holiday makers will now be able to access.

Tickets are incredibly limited, so don’t delay in securing yours.

FAQs

Did we get you?

Hopefully, to your relief, the SS Great Britain won’t be taking to the world’s seas and will remain at her home in Bristol, and Pierre Le Bear will stay in his current employment with Brittany Ferries.

But, since you’re here (and if we made you smile), please consider donating to our urgent fundraiser to reopen our dockyard museum. It has been completely redesigned so the SS Great Britain can be understood and accessed by even more visitors.
