reopens Easter weekend 2016
Daily, 11am, £10
Could you have sailed the seven seas?
Go Aloft! is currenly closed and will reopen Easter weekend 2016.
Step into the shoes of a Victorian sailor and climb the huge mainmast of the ss Great Britain.
You’ll have the luxury of being strapped into a harness and you will be briefed by a Topman on the Weather Deck, before you ascend the rigging to a viewing platform at over 26m above ground level.
From there, if you're brave enough, you can step out onto the main yard, taking you 9m out across the ship below, before returning to solid ground.
For those who would prefer to keep their feet firmly on the deck below, there will be volunteers dressed as 19th century sailors on hand to bring the crew’s stories to life.
Go Aloft! has been generously supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund, The Swire Charities, The Edith Murphy Foundation, Sir John Fisher Foundation, The Hobson Charity, Aurelius Charitable Trust and The Charles Littlewood Hill Trust.
The ss Great Britain Trust is grateful to the following companies for sponsoring the launch of Go Aloft!:
