We are a charity, which receives no core government funding. We are privileged to look after the SS Great Britain and Brunel’s legacy.
With our gates currently closed, we have lost our main source of income, but our duty of care remains. This comes at a significant and ongoing cost.
This year marks the 50th anniversary since the SS Great Britain was rescued from the Falkland Islands and brought back home to Bristol. Now we are facing a very different challenge.
Here’s how you can help:

The SS Great Britain is a key piece of our nation’s heritage. Celebrate her 50 years back home in Bristol and help ensure she spends another 50 years with us all. Please give your support today.
About your donation
Your donation today is hugely appreciated, and enables the Trust to:
- Conserve the ship; prevent corrosion of the iconic iron hull and make her available for future generations.
- Run exciting and accessible museums and education programmes, which inspire people with innovation and engineering. These include the historic dockyard, ship and museum site in Bristol as well as education programmes like Future Brunels.
- Care for and grow the nationally significant Brunel Collection within the Brunel Institute.
