Child heading towards Brunel's SS Great Britain

Saturday 8 April - Sunday 23 April 2017

Included in the price of admission

Head to Brunel’s SS Great Britain this Easter and enjoy plenty of family-fun activities.

Embark on a new Easter Animal Trail (8-23 April):

From big to small, furry to slimy and everything in between, Brunel’s famous ship carried animals of all shapes and sizes. This Easter, families can follow clues in search of creatures that traditionally travelled on board including leeches, creepy rats and even a cheeky monkey! After rounding up the escaped animals, little ones can collect a delicious chocolate reward.

Enjoy animal encounters on the dockside (15-17 April):

Kids and adults alike will love meeting live animals in the Rigger’s Yard during the Bank Holiday weekend. Families will be able to get up close to some of the animals who would have travelled on board including lambs, chicks, a goat and even a little donkey!

Explore the Brunel Institute (Various times):

Join the curators and discover rare Easter-themed artefacts including sketches and letters about Fry’s; the Bristol chocolatier.

Listen to fascinating new stories (Various dates):

New for 2017, visitors can explore one of the most fascinating aspects of the SS Great Britain’s story: the gold rush. The volunteer-led talks will delve into the ship’s first voyage to Australia and tales include murder, mystery, life changing success and spectacular failure.

Climb the rigging and see the spectacular views (additional charge):

Step into the shoes of a Victorian sailor and climb the huge mainmast of the SS Great Britain, over 25m above ground level.

All special events are in addition to exploring the Ship, Dry Dock and Dockyard Museum, and are included in the usual admission price (unless otherwise stated).
