Visitors to Brunel’s SS Great Britain have an array of new experiences to enjoy this summer as bosses at Bristol’s top-rated attraction promise a day packed full of fun with special family tickets now available at lower prices.

Family tickets for two adults and two children are available for £57 (usually £62) and tickets for one adult and two children are £39 (usually £42). These special summer family tickets still provide a full year of revisits at no extra cost, meaning families can come back for free as much as they want.

A new car parking arrangement means visitors pay just £5.20 to park for up to five hours, now paid at the visitor attraction’s ticket counters.

Simply park in any free space and head to the ticket counters to make payment. Don’t forget it’s also easy to reach us by bike, by public transport or on foot.

A new brick building zone challenges young inventors to take inspiration from Brunel’s dramatic bridges, daring tunnels and record-breaking ships as they construct models from giant building bricks. With this experience adding to the attraction’s existing undercover spaces which include two museums, dry dock, ship and a covered picnic area, a day out is well and truly weather proofed.

A new family sticker trail tasks children to track down exotic plants onboard the SS Great Britain as they take on the role of a Victorian plant hunter, with a reward at the end that they can take home and grow. Six Wardian Cases on the top deck feature new permanent exhibits as an array of orchids, ferns, rhododendrons and other living plants take centre stage in Victorian mini greenhouses, bringing the story of global plant journeys to life for the first time. Each day over the summer, visitors get to peek inside one of the cases, usually kept closed during voyages to provide a unique microclimate for the two months at sea.

Aspiring engineers can become Brunel’s Apprentice by collecting an ‘engineer’s satchel’ packed full of intriguing activities which include deploying binoculars, a magnifying glass and a torch.

Also new for summer 2024, a multimedia tour brimming with fascinating audio and video content allows visitors to delve deeper into the ship’s story than ever before. The Bloomberg Connects app can be downloaded free of charge before even visiting the ship.

Andrew Edwards, Chief Executive at Brunel’s SS Great Britain said:

“As a leading family visitor attraction, we tasked ourselves with offering exceptional value for a day out this summer and we really hope we’ve succeeded. The new activities are hands-on and engaging for all ages, complementing everything we offer year-round in the two museums and of course throughout every deck of the ship. This is a day out where you are encouraged to climb into bunks, to dress up and meet our Victorian characters, and to have a terrific time. We know value for money is important, which is why every ticket continues to allow unlimited return visits for a year.”
