Fish and chips at Harbourside Kitchen

SS Great Britain harbourside restaurant to re-open with ‘proper’ fish and chips and stunning views

From 12 April, Harbourside Kitchen will open with outdoor tables, serving ‘proper’ fish and chips along with a full range of drinks including beer, cider and wine.

Located beside the SS Great Britain on Brunel Square, there will be plenty of seating, offering stunning views across the harbour. Table service will be offered with the option to order using an app.

The menu will include freshly battered fish and hand-cut triple-cooked chips along with a range of cakes and cream teas with plenty of vegan and gluten free options.

Open from 10am daily, with hot food from 11am to 4pm, Harbourside Kitchen will also continue to offer takeaway drinks, snacks and ice cream from their kiosk.

The team at Harbourside Kitchen cannot wait to welcome visitors back. Café Manager, Fabio Saba, said:

“I’m really excited that we’re re-opening and can welcome customers once again. It will be great to see people out enjoying this slightly quieter spot beside the harbour. There’s so much outdoor space here, that everyone will be able to safely try our new menu. We can’t wait to get serving delicious fish and chips.”

The plan to offer a smaller menu that includes fish and chips, ice-cream and a full drink selection fits perfectly with the findings of a new survey; just announced by VisitEngland. The top sensory experiences that Brits are looking forward to as tourism and hospitality starts to open up are fish and chips (51%); ice-cream (51%) and a cold drink in a pub (47%). Harbourside Kitchen clearly ticks all the boxes and provides a stunning setting to boot.

The cafés and catering service at Brunel’s SS Great Britain are provided in partnership with Elior UK. The locally sourced menus are crafted by top chefs, with many of the cakes and scones baked on site by the Ship’s Baker.

While Harbourside Kitchen will open daily from 12 April, visitors will have to wait just a little longer before they can explore the museums and ship which will re-open on 17 May. Tickets and timeslots will be available at very soon.
