Finance Manager

Reporting to: Director of Finance & Resources

Purpose of job: To be responsible for all the finance and accounting activities up to and including preparation of management accounts and cashflow forecasting  

Hours: 21 hours per week

Responsibilities 

  • The preparation and reporting of the monthly management accounts for SS Great Britain Trust and SS Great Britain Trading companies
  • Monthly forecasting of projected year end position and cashflow
  • Proactive management of all financial processes within the organisation to ensure they are efficient and fit for purpose
  • Oversight of the Finance team
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliation 
  • Assist with annual budgeting process
  • Be a business partner to all budget holders
  • Assist the Director of Finance and Resources

Main Tasks

  • To ensure on time and accurate reporting of all weekly and monthly reports that are required
  • To work with the relevant teams to ensure accurate reporting and provide financial reports and analyses as required.
  • Monthly VAT returns
  • Monthly reconciliation of the bank accounts and other control accounts.
  • Oversee cash handling and cash management for retail and ticket outlets.
  • To generally assist the Director of Finance and Administration with all aspects of day-to-day working.
  • Assist with budgets and year end activities as appropriate.
  • Ad hoc financial analyses as required.

Person Specification

Skills

  • Accurate numerical and excellent analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage own workload.
  • Team player – flexible to the needs that arise within a small organisation.

Essential Experience

  • A professional accountancy qualification (eg ACA, CIMA or ACCA).
  • IT proficient, with good knowledge of Microsoft products Word and Excel.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Previous experience of producing management accounts.
  • Previous line management experience of a finance team.

Desirable Experience

  • Working knowledge of Sage accounts package.
  • Experience of charity accounting.
  • Previous cash handling experience.
