To mark the 50th anniversary of the SS Great Britain returning home to Bristol, we are delighted that Limbic Cinema produced this very special video. Initial plans for a live public event on the harbour as part of Bristol Harbour Festival were understandably postponed to 2021, and we are extremely grateful to Limbic Cinema for their kind support.
Poet Saili Katebe has written a new poem, marking the SS Great Britain’s 50 years ‘back home’ in Bristol following his residency onboard the ship last year. Limbic Cinema, a Bristol team of award-winning projection artists have captured elements of the poem and projected them onto the SS Great Britain’s hull and interiors, producing a new creative video in partnership with Woven Films.
On Sunday 19 July 2020, marking the anniversary of the SS Great Britain floating back into her original dry dock in 1970, we shared a simple moment on the ship's top deck as a lone piper performed. Check out our Facebook page to see the video.
