Saturday 22 July - 3 September 2017
Take part in a shipshape shindig as Bristol-based Cirque Bijou bring a Victorian Summer Circus to Brunel's SS Great Britain.
Crossing the Line Performance
Daily, 12.30pm, 1.45pm and 3pm
Free with admission
Inspired by the iconic ship's fascinating voyages, families can enjoy a brand-new show, three times a day on the dockside. Based on the 'Crossing the Line' initiation ceremonies performed by sailors to mark the first time one of their own crossed the equator, the spectacle will feature impressive juggling, hula hoop and acrobatics.
We are at the mercy of the British weather so in exceptional circumstances, we may have to make changes or cancel shows.
Circus Skills Workshop
Daily, 12pm - 4pm
Kids and adults alike can also join in the seafaring skulduggery and learn a new circus skill with free, drop-in workshops on Brunel Square.
Daily, £10 per person
For those brave enough to try feats of derring-do, become a Victorian sailor and climb the rigging with Go Aloft!
Meet Victorian passengers and Mr. Brunel
Shake the hand of Britain’s greatest engineer and get your photo taken with the original Iron Man. Bump into Victorian characters and ask about life on board Brunel’s legendary liner.
The Brunel Institute will also be open Tuesday - Thursday and the first two Saturdays of every month, 12.30pm - 1.30pm, for a special behind-the-scenes to hear stories about fascinating objects from the Archive Vault.
All special events are in addition to exploring the ship, Dry Dock and Dockyard Museum and are included in the usual admission price.
