Join us for a Christmas edition of our autism-friendly early openings and explore the ship and Dockyard Museum in a relaxed setting.
This Early Opening event will happen before Brunel’s SS Great Britain’s Victorian Christmas Weekend, to which you'll also have access with your ticket. Please be aware that there will be falling snow in the dockyard, and the Ragged Victorians (a Victorian re-enactment group) will be on site from 10am as part of the weekend.
This event is designed for families and individuals with autism, learning difficulties and sensory and communication access needs. The early opening will allow you to enjoy all the activities available at your own pace, without the usual crowds.
We understand that the experience at Brunel's SS Great Britain can be challenging for some of our visitors. In this event, loud and surprising sounds and flashing screens or lights will be turned off to make the site as accessible as possible. There will also be a quiet room available, and our friendly staff will always be on hand if you have any questions or need help.
The event will run from 8.30am - 10am. You're welcome to stay on site after we open to the public at 10am, when the Being Brunel museum will also be open. Please note that at this time, the site will open as usual with sounds, smells and low lighting.
If you would like to come back after the event or attend another of our Autism-Friendly events, you can upgrade to an Annual Ticket for an extra £5. See our FAQs for more information.
