Brunel's ss Great Britain has been recognised as a premier heritage visitor attraction. Its awards cover tourism, heritage, education, conservation, interpretation, architectural merit, and access and include:

Winner: Given by Rough Guide to Accessible Britain, 'Best Heritage Venue' 2010.

Silver Award: Given by the British Travel Awards for Best UK Theme Park/Attraction 2009.

Silver Award for Green Tourism: Given by the Green Business UK Ltd.

Winner: National EnjoyEngland Excellence Awards 2009 Gold Winner, Outstanding Customer Service: Steward Bob Evans.

Learning Outside the Classroom quality badge: Given by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, for engaging in an ongoing process to sustain high quality learning outside the classroom.

Winner: South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2008-2009 Gold Award, Outstanding Customer Service: Steward Bob Evans.

Sandford Award 2008: Given by the Heritage Education Trust, this award is a benchmark for high quality heritage education, recognising quality and excellence in educational services.

Accredited Museum: Awarded accredited museum status by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).

Winner: Enjoy England’s Awards for Excellence, Gold Winner: ‘Best Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 2007.

Winner: European Museum of the Year Award’s Micheletti Prize for 'Best Industrial or Technology Museum' 2007.    

Winner: RIBA/Crown Estate ‘Special Award for Conservation 2007’.

Winner: The Society for the History of Technology 'Dibner Award' for Outstanding Museum Work 2007.

Winner: The Gulbenkian Prize for ‘Museum of the Year 2006’ - the Biggest Arts Prize in the UK.

Winner: Museum and Heritage Award for Excellence 2006 for ‘Restoration/Conservation’.

Winner: Civic Trust Award 2006 - with special commendation for the ship’s access systems.

Winner: Association for Heritage Interpretation: ‘2006 Interpret Britain and Ireland Award’.

Winner: Royal Institute of British Architects Award 2007 – for the ‘Wessex’ region. Special Commendation.

Access: Association for Heritage Interpretation 2006 Interpret Britain and Ireland Award.   

Highly Commended: ‘Best UK Tourism Project’, British Guild of Travel Writers 2006.

Diploma: European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Award 2007: ‘Conservation of Architectural Heritage’. Short-listed Finalist: ICON Conservation

Award: ‘The Award for Conservation 2007’.  Short-listed Finalist: Conservation

Award: ‘The Anna Plowden Award for Research and Innovation in Conservation 2007’.
