Preparations for a Victorian Dickens-inspired Christmas have already started behind the scenes at the ss Great Britain Trust in Bristol.
Brunel's ss Great Britain is the world’s first great ocean liner. Launched in 1843 to provide luxury travel to New York, the iron-hulled steamship revolutionised travel and set new standards in engineering, reliability and speed.
Today Brunel's ss Great Britain is one of the UK’s most exciting museums and visitor attractions. Boasting state-of-the-art conference and events facilities both on board and in the brand new Brunel Institute alongside the ship, it’s an unusual setting destined to impress and entertain guests.
The ss Great Britain dedicated and award winning events team has created three packages for the daytime, evening and for corporate hire;
- Christmas Parties Welcomed by the sight of the beautifully illuminated ship, guests will arrive through the Great Western Dockyard, where carol singers, Dickensian characters, mulled wine and roasted chestnuts await them. They will then be invited to board the ship for a sumptuous Christmas banquet, followed by a disco.
- Christmas Lunches On arrival guests will be greeted with a mulled wine or non alcoholic punch. They will then be called to dine in the First Class Dining Saloon where a three course menu will be served with the choice of traditional turkey, or vegetarian option of winter vegetable bean cassoulet.
- Corporate Hire The entire ship can also be hired out exclusively as a unique venue for corporate Christmas parties. This package can include welcome drinks on Promenade Deck, a three course Christmas dinner with wine and a disco.
Created from the finest ingredients all food will be freshly cooked on board ship by expert chefs, in the modern state-of-the-art galley.
If that’s not enough to whet a festive appetite there will be plenty more on offer with mince pies and stollen cake, as well as free access to the ship.
Lunches will take place on December 13, 14 and 20 at 12.45pm and the evening parties will be on December 13 and 20 Dec at 7.30pm to midnight. Early booking is recommended!
