Brunel’s ss Great Britain prepares to host a line-up of magical Victorian Christmas events on board for the ship’s 170th anniversary year.
170 years ago on 19 July 1843 thousands of crowds gathered to watch the largest ship of its time launch into Bristol’s floating harbour. In the same year Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol was first published on the 19 December.
Today guests can enjoy a Dickensian themed Christmas on board with lunchtime and evening packages, magical public events and private hire options; all in an authentic, luxurious Victorian setting.
Thursday 12 & Friday 13 Dec, 12.30pm, £37 per person
Guests will enjoy a mulled wine reception followed by a traditional three-course Christmas lunch in the beautiful First Class Dining Saloon.
Christmas Party Night
Friday 6 December, 7.30pm, £40 per person
Party like it’s 1843 – celebrations start with a delicious buffet on board, followed by a entertainment and disco with Mr Brunel and his Victorian friends.
Brunel’s Victorian Christmas Dinner
Thursday 12 December, 7.30pm, £60 per person
Enjoy a Victorian themed dinner in the luxurious First Class Dining Saloon while Dickensian carol singers serenade you, your friends and family.
Alternatively the entire ss Great Britain can be hired exclusively for a truly unique Christmas occasion.
After each event guests are welcome to explore the ss Great Britain after hours; the perfect chance to experience the ship at night, illuminated from below.
The exquisite menu is developed by the in-house catering team and all food is cooked in the state of the art, onboard modern galley.
