BRISTOL’S leading creative people are taking a summer break from their usual venue to meet at Brunel’s ss Great Britain tomorrow (Tuesday, June 24).

Bristol Media’s monthly ‘Media Tuesday’ networking events normally take place in Goldbrick House. Renamed ‘Media Tuesday on Holiday’, the one-off change of scene is proving popular. More than 200 people have already emailed Brunel’s ss Great Britain to confirm their attendance.

As well as being a Bristol icon, and one of the UK’s most exciting visitor attractions, Brunel’s ss Great Britain is a premier venue for corporate functions, exhibitions, meetings and media and product launches.

Bristol Media is an active network for companies and individuals who are part of the city’s lively and fast-growing creative media scene. The organisation brings people together from the creative and media industries to share ideas, build up skills, track developments and identify opportunities. It seeks to forge new partnerships, celebrates achievement and promotes growth and prosperity of one of Bristol’s most exciting and dynamic sectors.

Bristol Media began in 2005 and has now grown to be one of the city’s biggest support networks. Throughout the year, the organisation offers its members advice, news, information, training and a varied range of networking and social events.

Deborah Germaine, Director of Commercial and Visitor Services, for the ss Great Britain Trust, commented: “We are delighted to be involved with Bristol Media, which is an influential body of the people behind some very exciting developments within the city.

“Media Tuesday on Holiday will give us the opportunity to showcase Brunel’s ss Great Britain as one of Britain’s most creative and inspiring visitor attractions and venues, and to also raise awareness of the exciting education and conservation projects we are currently working towards including the Brunel Institute.”

She added: “If Isambard Kingdom Brunel were alive today there is no doubt in my mind that his skills as designer would have extended to the new and thriving creative media sector!”

Pete Levy, Chair of Bristol Media, says: “We are lucky enough to live and work in such a culturally rich and vibrant city and this beautiful iconic attraction is very much part of our heritage.

“Our Media Tuesday events are a great way for our members to get together and meet away from the hustle and bustle of the office.

“We are pleased to be involved with the excellent developments that are taking place at Brunel’s ss Great Britain and it is a lovely venue for events and we’re certainly looking forward to going ‘on holiday’ and enjoying being on the water.”
