Events

July 19
Ship's Birthday! Vintage 1920s picnic
Dress in your vintage 1920s best – posh frocks and boaters – for bubbly, entertainment  and cake, aboard Brunel’s ss Great Britain. Bring your own picnic for dining on Top Deck, or the Promenade Deck (if the weather is inclement!).

1920s jazz, stunning views, and an opportunity to enjoy a unique event on July 19, 6.30pm to 10.00pm. Guests are free to roam Brunel’s ss Great Britain throughout the evening.

The event is inspired by the ship’s own history – in the 1920s the ss Great Britain was abandoned in the Falkland Islands, and was a popular picnic haunt for some, more adventurous, locals.

The date of July 19 is symbolic as it is the date the ss Great Britain was originally launched in 1843, by Prince Albert, the date she returned to Bristol in 1970, and the date the museum was ‘re-launched’ to public acclaim in 2005, after more than 30 years of conservation and restoration work.

Tickets are £20 (adult) and £10 (child) each, or £9.05 and £4.05 if you already have an annual ticket.

  • To book please contact 0117 926 0680.
