Opening Hours

Q. Is Brunel’s ss Great Britain open at weekends and on bank holidays?

A. Brunel’s ss Great Britain is open every day — including weekends, bank holidays and Easter Sunday — except 24th and 25th December 2008 and January 19th 2009. Find out more about our opening hours.

Q. How much does it cost to visit Brunel’s ss Great Britain ?

Q. Can I take photographs at Brunel’s ss Great Britain?

A. Photography is permitted everywhere on site, except in the Baker Gallery or where specifically indicated. Reproduction of photos for commercial use is not permitted.

Q. Who is entitled to your concessionary entry rate?

A. We offer concessions to senior citizens, students, children and groups.  Proof of status will need to be shown.  For further information, please see Times and Prices.

Q. Does Brunel’s ss Great Britain offer discounts for group visits?

A. We offer discounted entry for pre-booked groups of 20 or more visitors and for school visits.  For more information, please see Times and Prices and the Group Visits section.

Q. Does Brunel’s ss Great Britain provide audio guides?

A. These are available FREE of charge with every admission.  They can be collected from a booth on Top Deck. There is a choice of:

  • First Class passenger.
  • Steerage / Third Class passenger.
  • Maritime Archaeologist.
  • Sinbad the Ship’s Cat (for children).

Adult and children’s tours are also available in French and German.

Q. Is Brunel’s ss Great Britain fully accessible?

A. Brunel’s ss Great Britain is fully accessible. There are lifts that can be used to access the Dry Dock, the Dockyard Museum and the ss Great Britain herself.  They are principally for wheelchair and pushchair users and those who find stairs difficult.  The Dockyard Museum has been built with a ramp that provides wheelchair users with full access. British Sign Language video guides are available for deaf adults and children.  Audio tours which include orientation information are available for visually impaired visitors.  Find out more about access for all at Brunel's ss Great Britain.

Q. Does Brunel’s ss Great Britain have baby change facilites?

A. Yes, there are baby change facilities in the Dockyard Museum, on board the ss Great Britain and at the Dockyard Café Bar.  Find out more about facilities at Brunel's ss Great Britain.


Getting Here

Q. How to get to Brunel’s ss Great Britain using public transport?

Q. Is there a car and coach park near Brunel’s ss Great Britain?

A. Yes, the car park is located at the end of Gas Ferry Road.  It is a pay and display carpark.  The car park is only a minute’s walk from the ticket office.

Q. Can coaches drop passengers off outside Brunel’s ss Great Britain ?

A. Yes, single and double decker coaches can drop passengers off outside Brunel’s ss Great Britain or at the marked coach bays.  The car park is only a minute’s walk from the ticket office.

A. Brunel’s ss Great Britain has between 150,000-170,000 visitors annually.

Q. Can I dine on board in the First Class Dining Saloon?

A. We organise many special dining events throughout the year, such as the Valentine’s Murder Mystery, Burns Night banquet, Christmas lunches and Victorian Christmas banquet.
