First Class all-year round at Brunel's ss Great Britain

The companies have installed air conditioning units in two of the ship’s unique venues for special dining events, the First Class Dining Saloon and the Hayward Saloon.

The advanced system is temperature controlled throughout the year, improving the ss Great Britain’s venue hire facilities which are popular with corporate and private clients, and are also available for weddings and civil partnerships.

As corporate partners, the companies help the registered charity meet the costs of the ss Great Britain’s ongoing, and vital, conservation work.

The ss Great Britain Trust’s Fundraising Development Officer Gary Musson said: “We are delighted to announce the addition of H & F Air Conditioning Ltd and JM Developments Ltd to the ever-growing list of corporate partners.

“They have provided an excellent standard of service in the quality of work on board, improving temperature control within our most popular function areas.”

He added: “Corporate sponsorship plays an important role in the continuing conservation of the ship and we look forward to receiving more calls from businesses and organisations interested in becoming corporate partners.”

Venue hire is a vital part of the Trust’s income, currently representing approximately one-third of the costs required to care for the ship.

Using the latest computer aided design facilities H & F Air Conditioning Ltd were able to design and select air conditioning systems to perfectly match Brunel’s ss Great Britain’s unique requirements – from the historic ship’s hull to the stunning decorations in the First Class Dining Saloon and the Hayward Suite

The H& F team all worked closely with the ship facilities team to over- come access as to not spoil any part of the ships original structure and decor, to find routs of pipe and associate services throughout the core of the ship. This included being involved with the future developments of the new Crimean Horse display within the ship.

H & F Air Conditioning and JM Developments Ltd are the latest companies to support the ss Great Britain Trust, which receives no central or local government funding. Other gold partners include Brunel Ford and Heritage Engineering and Restoration Ltd.

As joint corporate partners the companies will receive benefits including complimentary tickets, branding opportunities and invitations to exclusive events.

Corporate partners in 2009 are invited to become one of the Founders of the new Brunel Institute that will enable the Trust to reach many more people and deliver exciting education programmes.
